Independent research (FFT/EEF) has shown that learners who use SAM Learning Secondary for 10+ hours across a range of subjects do better than expected in their exams.
To help you implement The 10 Task Hour Challenge in your school and improve your learners' results, we've provided a pack full of support materials - click on the links below to download.
How does the 10 Task Hour Challenge work?
For Learners:
Once a term / half-term, use the progress report to identify which learners have spent more than 10 hours working on SAM Learning. Print off this certificate and award it to your learners.
For Registration Groups / Tutor Groups:
Encourage a little competition - just as with individual learners, you can see which registration groups have passed 10 hours on average and award them a certificate.
For Schools:
Here at SAM Learning Central, each half-term, we will be looking for which schools have passed 10 Task Hours on average (with at least half of your registered students active). We will then post you a lovely shiny certificate - to recognise the effort you have gone to in promoting the success of your learners. (Remember, you can look for a P8 gain of around 0.2 in pupils who have completed more than 10 hours, compared with those who haven't used it.)
Strategies... how do we help our learners beat 10 hours?
- Set tasks regularly - 2 or 3 activities for a homework will typically take about 30-45 minutes.
- Encourage your learners to use it to revise for tests - in all subjects.
- Encourage your learners to challenge each other on the leaderboard.
...if you can pass 5 hours by Christmas, you're on track to beat 10 hours across the year.
